Merle & I had gone to Gulfport, MS to spend Thanksgiving with our pregnant Taylor & David, and our Michael, Rebecca, & Grandbaby Warren who drove over from Dallas, TX. On 11/24, we lost David to a tragic plane crash near New Orleans Lakefront Airport. A licensed private plane pilot, he was working on his instrument rating with a flight instructor. The US Coast Guard oversaw the Search & Rescue in Lake Pontchartrain, then on 11/25 the Search & Recovery was turned over to the NTSB, FAA, local authorities, the volunteer “Cajun Navy”, & the flight school’s insurance company’s investigative contractor.

The church memorial service is on 12/13, the US Navy Construction Battalion Memorial service on the Navy base is 12/15, & the funeral is to be scheduled at the Biloxi National Cemetery if/when David’s body is recovered & is released by the New Orleans Coroner.

An admirable Christian man, David loved Taylor & his extended family & was very excited for the arrival of Baby Jahn in March. Their church, the USNCB personnel & families, & Taylor’s colleagues from the CFHC medical group she works with are very gracious & generous in their support of Taylor through this. Our sorrow is very deep witnessing Taylor & Baby Jahn go through this and all our families’ loss of David.
