Launching KidCheck & YouthCheck Electronic Check-In!

Date: December 8th, 2025

To: All Crossroads Youth Ministry Students and Parents/Guardians

From: Steve Coots, Crossroads Youth Director

We are excited to share an important update regarding our weekly Youth Group gatherings, designed to enhance the safety, structure, and overall experience for every student on our campus.

Starting this Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 we will be transitioning to an electronic check-in system called YouthCheck.

This new system is a vital step in ensuring the continued safety and reliability of our ministry, guaranteeing that every youth group gathering is properly structured, balanced, safe, and purposeful.

Key Changes & First-Time Check-In Requirements

The introduction of YouthCheck is designed to confirm that parents/guardians are fully aware of and have given permission for their student's attendance and participation. This process also ensures we have the most accurate, up-to-date contact and medical information in case of an emergency.  Additionally, this change in check-in will confirm that students/parents are aware of behavioral expectations and consequences.

Check-out is not affected by this change, parents will not need to come in to sign students out, but should be prepared to pick up at or before 8:30 pm each Wednesday night.  Below are the check-in requirements and differences between age groups.

Student Group

Junior High Students (Grades 6th – 8th)

Check-In Requirement

Parent/Guardian is REQUIRED to physically accompany the student to the check-in station in the lobby each week, starting THIS Wednesday. Students who are not accompanied by their own parent/guardian will not be permitted entry into youth group.

Parents can create their KidCheck parent account and add junior high student(s) prior to Wednesday using this site: https://go.kidcheck.com/

High School Students (Grades 9th-12th)

Must create a YouthCheck account and profile, but a parent/guardian is NOT required to be present for check-in.

High School will have their own check-in line and can make the process faster by downloading YouthCheck app and creating their own youth account.

Why We Are Making This Change

Our primary goal is to provide a safe, engaging, and purposeful environment for every student. This transition directly supports that goal in two key ways:

  1. Enhanced Safety & Accountability: The system ensures that all student and parent contact information is accurate and immediately accessible. By confirming that a parent has given permission for their student to attend, we can ensure every student is where they are supposed to be.
  2. Addressing Transportation Safety: In recent months, we have seen an increase in the number of unaccompanied students riding bikes, e-bikes, and motorcycles to the church campus.  Along with this trend there has been a sincere level of concern among our church and community for both the students’ safety and the safety of other children and parents driving to church and/or using the parking lot.

While we cannot prohibit the use of these modes of transport, implementing the mandatory parent check-in process for Junior High students and a required account for all students is part of a larger effort to raise parent awareness about their student's commute and campus behavior, leading to a safer environment for everyone.

We are not able to enforce traffic concerns on 41st Drive, but we are prepared to notify authorities if there are safety concerns and encourage you to do the same.

Our mission at Crossroads Youth is for students to KNOW Jesus, GROW their faith, and SERVE others. We are dedicated to building a well-structured youth program where safety and accountability is paramount in a space where every student can thrive spiritually and relationally.

Thank you for partnering with us in this important change. Please ensure that if you have a Junior High student, a parent or guardian is available to personally check them in. Students who are not accompanied by their own parent/guardian will not be permitted entry into youth group.

If you have any questions, please contact our youth director Steve Coots at 623-326-0000 or stevecoots@thecrossroads.church

See you this Wednesday!

In Christ,

Steve Coots, Youth Director
